Offenders warned their car may be sold or crushed if they are caught.
A new summer safety campaign across Scotland is clamping down on poor driving behaviour and drink and drug driving.
The message will warn repeat drink and drug drivers that their car may be sold or crushed if they are caught.
The campaign was launched by Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill, ACPOS Head of Road Policing Kevin Smith and Solicitor General Frank Mulholland QC.
Smith announced that 8,504 people in Scotland were caught driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs last year.
Also, that since the vehicle forfeiture began last year, 210 drivers have been caught driving under the influence of drink or drugs for a second time and 39 vehicles have been forfeited with more pending.
MacAskill said: "The sad reality is that we are still seeing thousands of individuals each year taking a gamble on other people's lives by getting behind the wheel of a vehicle whilst under the influence of alcohol. Unfortunately, the message doesn't appear to be getting through to these people."
"Scotland's police forces are responding. Whether it is a prison sentence, taking your licence, or crushing your car, the message is going out loud and clear - you will be caught and you will be met with by the full force of the law."
