Manufacturers showcase more vehicles at Green Fleet Arrive 'N' Drive than ever before
GreenFleet's Arrive 'n' Drive took place last week at Rockingham, Corby, Northamptonshire, where the latest green vehicles were test driven around a top-class race track.
The event allowed fleet managers to put the latest green vehicles through their paces on a first-class race track to prove that buying green doesn’t have to mean a compromise in performance.
The event was also the first opportunity for UK fleet managers to see and test drive the dynamic Ampera, Vauxhall’s range-extended electric vehicle, due out in 2012.
At this year’s event, manufacturers showcased more vehicles than ever before.
Meanwhile, the Innovation Zone gave attendees the chance to experience new technology, including hybrid commercial vehicles and so on.
Sponsors EDF Energy were on hand to advise on safe recharging and infrastructure issues.
Exhibitors consisted of AshWoods, CMS Supatrak, Michelin, BigGreenBook, ePower Trucks, Garmin, Greenmotion, Lex Autolease, Allied electric, ATS Euromaster, Trimble, RL Automotive, Schneider Electric, Agility, AutoDrain and Quantya.
Manufacturers at the event were Citroen, Peugeot, Aixam, Honda, Hyundai, Vauxhall, Ford, VW Commercial Vehicles, Volvo, SEAT, Kia, Mitsubishi, Lexus, Toyota, mia electric and TATA.
Charging bay innovators, Elektromotive, were also on hand to demonstrate the award winning Elektrobay, as the Recharging Technology partner.
The Energy Saving Trust (EST) was GreenFleet’s Arrive ‘n’ Drive’s Smarter Driving Partner, with the training incorporating a test route on the real roads where driving style and fuel consumption will be observed and recorded.
EST then gave simple advice on how to drive smarter to reduce fuel use. Armed with this knowledge, participants then put into practice EST’s eco driving tips to see how simple changes to driver behaviour can reduce fuel consumption.
TomTom Business Solutions were the Smarter Driving Technology Partner and gave detailed analysis of each drive.
