Network Rail figures show 94 per cent train punctuality rate for April

Figures have improved from same period last year.

Network Rail train figures show that 94 per cent of trains across the country arrived punctually in April.

The figures are up from 93.6 per cent at the same period last year.

The record high figures also show that almost 98 per cent of trains on the c2c route arrived on time, increasing the operator's performance for the past year to 96.7 per cent.

11 of the 19 operators saw their performance improve, or stay at record high levels, with Virgin Trains and London Midland seeing the biggest improvement in performance this month compared to the same period last year.

Four of the 19 operators saw significant movement in their performance.

Robin Gisby, director of operations and customer services, said: "Delivering an even better service for our customers and for passengers remains our primary focus as high levels of investment to beat bottlenecks and overcrowding continue."
