Extra £7m for road repairs in Wales

Money will help councils under pressure following a second winter of snow

An extra £7.085m is to go towards helping Welsh local authorities repair potholes.

The money will specifically support councils who are under pressure following a second winter of widespread snow and has been found from careful and prudent management of in-year resources.

The allocations will provide the funding from the Economy and Transport Department to support pressures on Local Authorities’ roads maintenance budgets.

Deputy First Minister and Economy and Transport Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones said: "This additional investment will further improve the safety and condition of our roads and demonstrates our commitment to helping local authorities repair potholes."
