Direct Eurostar services between London and Amsterdam are expected to be introduced by the end of the year.
There will be a choice of two trains each day, with the possibility of stopping in Antwerp, Rotterdam and (Amsterdam) Schiphol.
The journey time is expected to be four hours, but because of the time difference, passengers should allow for five on the way to Amsterdam.
For the return trip, it is expected to take three hours.
The service will be running the new e320 trains, with free Wi-Fi and on on-board entertainment.
They consist of 16 coaches with 894 sears and reach a maximum speed of 320km/h.
