Station will have twice the current capacity and two ticket halls.
Crossrail have unveiled new designs for Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station, which combines Tottenham Court Road Tube and Crossrail station.
Crossrail will cut journey times from the West End, with Paddington just 5 minutes away, Ealing Broadway 15 minutes, Heathrow 30 minutes, Canary Wharf 12 minutes and Ilford 23 minutes.
The Crossrail service at Tottenham Court Road will be 24 trains per hour in each direction during the peak.
The existing Tube station is being extensively redeveloped to make the ticket hall around six times larger and the station will have twice the current capacity.
The combined Tube and Crossrail station will have two ticket halls, with both entrances providing access to Tube and Crossrail services.
The station will be constructed with five levels, with the ticket hall at street level, and is designed to ensure the free flowing movement of passengers entering and exiting the station, thus reducing congestion and crowding.
The new station will require entrances in Soho and Oxford Street, along with an entrance at Centre Point. The new step-free station entrances at Centre Point will be a key design feature of the new public piazza and create a distinctive new landmark for the West End.
Tottenham Court Road station is currently used by 150,000 passengers each day, and is expected to rise to over 200,000 when Crossrail services commence.
In total, £1bn is being spent to build a new Crossrail station, upgrade the capacity of the Tube station and create the new piazza. The transport improvements will also provide better facilities for pedestrians, cyclists, bus passengers and other road users.
Crossrail architects Hawkins Brown have finalised the design for the new Crossrail station over the last year.
Rail Minister Theresa Villiers said: "Crossrail will boost rail capacity in London by 10 per cent, revolutionise travel around London and the South East and benefit both business and passengers."
