Mid Devon council to introduce rapid electric vehicle charge points

Mid Devon District Council has made a deal with InstaVolt to install rapid electric vehicle charge points across the region.

The installation will give drivers the ability to charge their vehicles up to 80 per cent in 30 minutes, and will be available to anyone on a pay-as-you go basis.

This is part of a series of measures by the council to improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions in the area.

Charge points will be installed in Tiverton, Cullompton and Crediton, and the surrounding areas will be “geared up for use by both domestic and commercial vehicles”.

In addition, they will be linked to the electric vehicle website ZapMap, so they can be located by visitors as well as locals to Mid Devon.

The council will also receive a financial boost from the installation of the chargers, as well as an income from InstaVolt for the next 30 years.
